Community of Hope Church is a member of Charis Fellowship, a family of independent Canadian Christian churches following the Grace Brethren tradition. Historically, these believers strove to follow Jesus as best possible. They stood their ground regarding key things that have defined Christianity from the start, while challenging or rejecting certain religious and cultural practices that missed the point of what they understood Jesus taught.
Because we aren't part of an overall church leadership hierarchy, we aren't technically a denomination. One could say that like all of our Grace Brethen sister churches, we are a mainstream Bible-focused Christian church that is theologically conservative but culturally relevant. We want to hold firm to Jesus’ teachings within a relational environment that is welcoming, comfortable, and adaptable to our immediate culture.
We believe that Jesus of Nazareth died for our spiritual salvation and rose from the dead to prove both the Bible’s truth and God’s power. We believe that entrusting our lives to this truth is the only way to a true relationship with God, for now and for eternity. We believe that through the Bible, God has clearly shown us who He is, who we are, and how to make sense of our existence. We are careful to learn the proper historical, cultural, and spiritual context of the 66 writings that form the Bible, so that we can accurately apply them to our lives.
